Fix It Sticks returns to Kickstarter to fund two new tool d

Upstart tool manufacturer Fix It Sticks returns to Kickstarter to fund two new tool designs. Company founder Brian Davis plans to introduce a version of the popular two-piece Fix It Sticks with replaceable bits as well as a T-way wrench, also with replaceable bits, suitable for home mechanics.

The company introduced its first tool system on Kickstarter last year. The simple, two-piece multi-tool design quickly took off, offering cyclists a compact, easy to carry tool that forms a ‘T’ when one tool is inserted into the other, giving the user more leverage than can be attained with many compact multi-tools.

The new replaceable bit Fix It Sticks build on the success of the original design. Unlike the originals, which are constructed from aluminum, the Replaceable Edition will be constructed from nickel-plated 4130 steel. The claimed weight for two sticks with four replaceable bits is 115g.

A set of two sticks will ship with eight bits: 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm hex bits, a Phillips #2 and Torx 25.

Users can stop by their local hardware store to purchase additional bits to suit their specific needs. “Whatever your need, there is likely a bit that will work and you don't have to buy it from me,” writes Davis on his Kickstarter page.

The minimum Kickstarter buy-in for the Fix It Sticks Replaceable Edition is US$30, plus shipping if outside the US. (The expected MSRP after the Kickstarter launch is US$36.)

Davis’ second new tool is designed to meet the needs of home mechanics, offering the benefits of bench full of tools while taking up much less space and costing significantly less money.

The T-Way Wrench functions much like the Fix It Sticks Replaceable Edition, but with a permanently secured T handle. Each of the three ends of the T-Way Wrench can house a replaceable bit.

The T-Way Wrench will ship with seven bits: 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm hex bits and a Torx 25.

Both the Fix It Sticks Replaceable Edition and the T-Way Wrench use standard 1/4in bits, making the possibilities for customization endless.

The minimum buy-in for the T-Way Wrench is US$25, plus US$9 shipping if outside the US. (The expected MSRP after the Kickstarter launch is $30.)
