After talking to some people and reading some of the threads here, I finally decided to buy some Atlas snowshoes. I'd never been snowshoeing before yesterday. We climbed up Tumalo Mtn here in Bend. It's not open to bicycles so I've never been up it. The summit is above the tree line at 7,775' and the views are amazing. The powder was about a foot deep so it wasn't too hard but we picked a pretty steep route to the top. The bowl on the backside is great for backcountry sking or snowboarding and I had a blast.
This was the view halfway up. That's Mt. Bachelor which is across the street from Tumalo.
Once at the top I cherished this beer before heading down.
