June 12 at Cage aux Sport in the Bell Centre.

If you have been surfing through MTB sites or magazines anytime in the last six months you have probably heard circulating rumours about a new film called “The Collective” - entirely shot in 16 mm film, with many of the best and most influential freeriding talents in the world. Well, those rumours have become reality and the film will be premiered in Montreal on June 12 at Cage aux Sport in the Bell Centre.

What is The Collective?

The Collective is a group of filmmakers, photographers, and mountain bikers who have united to produce a new breed of mountain bike film, by drawing on the experience, expertise, and creative energy of all its members. The Collective’s mission is to tap into the soul of mountain biking, and document and present it on brilliant 16mm film. “The Collective” is a film that portrays the newest, cutting edge images of the freeride progression, while exploring the thoughts and personalities of the riders leading that progression.

The cast of riders includes Darren Berrecloth, Geoff Gulevich, Matt Hunter, Tyler Klassen, Ryan Leech, Jordie Lunn, Tyler Morland, Steve Romaniuk, Andrew Shandro, Wade Simmons, Thomas Vanderham, and Dave Watson.

Footage for the film was shot in the South Chilcotins; Whistler; Red Bull Rampage; Hanksville, Utah; Hawaii; North Shore; Portland; and a B.C. Interior Road Trip.

Produced and directed by the team of Jamie Houssian and Darcy Wittenburg; with photographs and creative input from Sterling Lorence.

Doors open at 8:30 pm on Saturday June 12, 2004. Admission is $10, which includes a chance to win some sweet swag. Girls get in for free. There will be drink specials for those of drinking age ( 2 beers for $6). There will be a second, yet-to-be-determined MTB film opening the evening, and The Collective should get underway by 10:00 pm.
