Les Jackalopes à Montréal - Récits&Photos
Our good friends The Jackalopes from Rochester, NY came to visit us in Montréal last weekend. We met them throught Ridemonkey.com and eventhough we don't see them often they are very dear to us.
From left to right, Ralph (Instigator), John (Echo) and Mike (Tweek)
They arrived friday night and after 6 hours of driving the beer and food was well deserved.
It did not take long for things to get out of hand ....
Isa bought a used Stinky Deelux from Lisa, another Jackalope, so the guys brought it over to build it up. Here's Mike and John pretending to be hard at work. Jozz joined us to greet our visting friends.
The pink room was almost filled to maximum capacity
After working 17 hours in the last 24 hours, Ralph fell asleep on what is now knowned as Instigator's official chair.
After many beers we went to bed late and waking up was hard the next day. But we needed to make a early start because it was going to be a warm day and the trails will become too soft pretty fast.
Saturday morning, 8:30 am, we were all ready for a epic day of riding, first the mountain and then downtown, the old montréal and the old port.
We took the subway to reach downtown and it was Ralph's first time in a public transport.
We got to the mountain early in a day that was going to be beautifull.
Isa was one of the few who made the first short climb.
We climbed the mountain by the access road and it was a good thing that we were early because the path was already soft.
It did not take long for us to undress before overheating on the climb
On the summit we played at bit but it is hard to gather speed in the soft snow.
Viewing beautiful Montréal from the top of the Mount Royal is very spectacular
Now the good stuff: the trails. It was very challenging to ride on the very narrow part of the trail that was hard enough to ride on, a couple of inches off and Endo you GO!
We try a very steep pitch that is already hard in the summer but no one had much success on it, it was way too slipery. It was even dangerous to reclimb the thing for a second try.
The singletrack got very narrow and hard to ride.
We crossed over to the cimetery side of the mountain. Where more snowy downhills were waiting for us.
More downhills
It was amazing that we could still ride in the deep snow, it felt more like snowboarding but with no control what so ever. fun stuff
This is Isa in one of many crash that we had that day.
One of the downhills especially claimed a lot of victims.
Echo trying to save it
but finally failed
but the award for the Endo of the day goes to Tweek!
After a brutal climb we crossed over to the University side of the mountain were the sweetest singletracks were waiting for us.
The trails on that side are more hiked on and therefore harder, faster and more fun for us outlaw bikers.
Here's Jozz railing a corner faster than I ever saw him go.
It was a amazing ride and everyone rode like champs.
After the Mount Royal we did a little urban and then rode in scenic Old Montréal.
We went out for food and beer on Saturday night and had a blast.
Sunday was Skatepark day
Instigator showing his skills by trying some funky lines.
Pat Tellier, our friend from AllezY.net came to ride with us for a while at the park and again gave me some good advice.

Echo was ripping it on his 20" BMX
That's me praticing my newly learned Xups
We rented the park and it was so nice to have it all to ourselves
It was a amazing weekend spent with great friends.
Thanks a lot for coming guys, see you in the spring.
